Democrats in Alabama are in the minority of voters. Alabamians of (AL)
have made Alabama a Republican (strong Republican) state.
In order for Bernie Sanders to become our next U.S. President on January 20, 2017,
he must win at least 270 Electorial Votes in the
General Election on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. Bernie Sanders would be amazed to take the 9 (EVs)
Your order of entry to the United States was 22. Conscidered to be in the Deep South region. On November 8, 2016. Alabama has 9 electoral votes to give. Before you can vote for him in the General Election, he must first become the the Democratic Nominee.
To make Bernie Sanders the Democratic Party nominee, he first needs to win in Primary's and Caucus's across the country. The date for the Open Primary for Alabama is 3/1/2016. * Dates and primary format are subject to change - The above was last confirmed with the FEC on 8/19/2015
To win in Alabama, Bernie needs all Alabamians who will be at least 18 years old to properly REGISTER as Democrat of Alabama (or meet other specific designation requirements ie: MA ). In Alabama you must be 18 by the date of the Primary (3/1/2016). Please do not wait until the 2/19/2016 to be sure you are registered to vote as a Democrat (or meet other specific designation requirements ie: MA )!
Once Bernie is the Democratic Nominee, he will run against the Republican Nominee (and nominees of other parties). The current General Election system requires 270 Electorial College votes. Based upon the 2010 U.S. Census, 9 of them come from Alabama. Alabama is a WINNER TAKE ALL state which means all 9 go to the winner. Democrats are disappointed to say Alabama (AL) was a "Red" state in 2012 with the final elcection vote of 38.36% Democrat and 60.55% Republican. Because it was close, we have to work hard to ensure Alabama is more strongly Democrat in 2016.
