Democrats in Illinois are in the majority of voters. Illinoisans of (IL)
have made Illinois a Democrat (strong Democrat) state.
In order for Bernie Sanders to become our next U.S. President on January 20, 2017,
he must win at least 270 Electorial Votes in the
General Election on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. Bernie Sanders is counting on to Secure the 20 (EVs)
Your order of entry to the United States was 21. Conscidered to be in the Great Lakes region. On November 8, 2016. Illinois has 20 electoral votes to give. Before you can vote for him in the General Election, he must first become the the Democratic Nominee.
To make Bernie Sanders the Democratic Party nominee, he first needs to win in Primary's and Caucus's across the country. The date for the Semi-Closed Primary for Illinois is 3/15/2016. * Dates and primary format are subject to change - The above was last confirmed with the FEC on 8/19/2015
To win in Illinois, Bernie needs all Illinoisans who will be at least 18 years old to properly REGISTER as Democrat of Illinois (or meet other specific designation requirements ie: MA ). In Illinois you are allowed to vote in the Primary if you will be 18 by November 8, 2016. Please do not wait until the 2/16/2016 to be sure you are registered to vote as a Democrat (or meet other specific designation requirements ie: MA )!
Once Bernie is the Democratic Nominee, he will run against the Republican Nominee (and nominees of other parties). The current General Election system requires 270 Electorial College votes. Based upon the 2010 U.S. Census, 20 of them come from Illinois. Illinois is a WINNER TAKE ALL state which means all 20 go to the winner. Democrats are happy to say Illinois (IL) was a "Blue" state in 2012 with the final elcection vote of 57.6% Democrat and 40.73% Republican. We must work hard to ensure Illinois stays Democrat in 2016.
