Dear Hoosiers,

** Follow @BernieVerse on TWITTER to be be added to the Twitter List specifically from the point of view from the Hoosier State or email Bernie.Universe@Gmail.com to tell me who needs to be added to Indiana (mention State name in email subject and message).

Democrats in Indiana are in the minority of voters. Hoosiers of (IN) have made Indiana a Republican (strong Republican) state. In order for Bernie Sanders to become our next U.S. President on January 20, 2017, he must win at least 270 Electorial Votes in the General Election on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. Bernie Sanders would be amazed to take the 11 (EVs) from Indiana.

Your order of entry to the United States was 19. Conscidered to be in the Great Lakes region. On November 8, 2016. Indiana has 11 electoral votes to give. Before you can vote for him in the General Election, he must first become the the Democratic Nominee.

To make Bernie Sanders the Democratic Party nominee, he first needs to win in Primary's and Caucus's across the country. The date for the Open Primary for Indiana is 5/3/2016. * Dates and primary format are subject to change - The above was last confirmed with the FEC on 8/19/2015

To win in Indiana, Bernie needs all Hoosiers who will be at least 18 years old to properly REGISTER as Democrat of Indiana (or meet other specific designation requirements ie: MA ). In Indiana you are allowed to vote in the Primary if you will be 18 by November 8, 2016. Please do not wait until the 4/4/2016 to be sure you are registered to vote as a Democrat (or meet other specific designation requirements ie: MA )!

Once Bernie is the Democratic Nominee, he will run against the Republican Nominee (and nominees of other parties). The current General Election system requires 270 Electorial College votes. Based upon the 2010 U.S. Census, 11 of them come from Indiana. Indiana is a WINNER TAKE ALL state which means all 11 go to the winner. Democrats are disappointed to say Indiana (IN) was a "Red" state in 2012 with the final elcection vote of 43.93% Democrat and 54.13% Republican. Because it was close, we have to work hard to ensure Indiana is more strongly Democrat in 2016.

General Election System Information

Each U.S. State in the BernieVerse is unique in how it contributes to the ultimate aim in Electing Bernie Sanders as the 46th President of the United States on Tuesday November 8th 2016. Find your state below, learn the dates, numbers and rules unique to getting Bernie as the winner of your state Primary/Caucus and then the General Election. Important links for each state are also included.

Here are a few things you should know before you find your state:

  • In the United States a President is not elected by popular vote. Rather it is done through the Electoral College. You can learn all about it on WikiPedia. For simplicity know that a candidate must get 270 electorial votes to win. Each State has a number electoral votes based on the most recent U.S. Census (2010).

  • In order for Bernie Sanders to be on the November 8th, 2016 Ballot, he must first be selected as the Democrat Party Nominee.

  • The Democratic National Convention will begin on July 25, 2016 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania.

  • The two major U.S. Political Parties are Democrat and Republican. Though each having some variation in the Nominee Process, they each go through a Primary/Caucus season to select an individual candidate to represent their party in the General Election season.

  • Each State sets it's rules and dates during the election cycle. So it is important to find your State below and follow the additional links if you wish.

  • This is an ongoing volunteer effort, not paid for or affiliated with any party, candidate or cause. Please help me get missing or incorrect information fixed by sending me email to Bernie.Universe@Gmail.com.
