Democrats in Indiana are in the minority of voters. Hoosiers of (IN)
have made Indiana a Republican (strong Republican) state.
In order for Bernie Sanders to become our next U.S. President on January 20, 2017,
he must win at least 270 Electorial Votes in the
General Election on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. Bernie Sanders would be amazed to take the 11 (EVs)
Your order of entry to the United States was 19. Conscidered to be in the Great Lakes region. On November 8, 2016. Indiana has 11 electoral votes to give. Before you can vote for him in the General Election, he must first become the the Democratic Nominee.
To make Bernie Sanders the Democratic Party nominee, he first needs to win in Primary's and Caucus's across the country. The date for the Open Primary for Indiana is 5/3/2016. * Dates and primary format are subject to change - The above was last confirmed with the FEC on 8/19/2015
To win in Indiana, Bernie needs all Hoosiers who will be at least 18 years old to properly REGISTER as Democrat of Indiana (or meet other specific designation requirements ie: MA ). In Indiana you are allowed to vote in the Primary if you will be 18 by November 8, 2016. Please do not wait until the 4/4/2016 to be sure you are registered to vote as a Democrat (or meet other specific designation requirements ie: MA )!
Once Bernie is the Democratic Nominee, he will run against the Republican Nominee (and nominees of other parties). The current General Election system requires 270 Electorial College votes. Based upon the 2010 U.S. Census, 11 of them come from Indiana. Indiana is a WINNER TAKE ALL state which means all 11 go to the winner. Democrats are disappointed to say Indiana (IN) was a "Red" state in 2012 with the final elcection vote of 43.93% Democrat and 54.13% Republican. Because it was close, we have to work hard to ensure Indiana is more strongly Democrat in 2016.
