Democrats in Kentucky are in the minority of voters. Kentuckians of (KY)
have made Kentucky a Republican (strong Republican) state.
In order for Bernie Sanders to become our next U.S. President on January 20, 2017,
he must win at least 270 Electorial Votes in the
General Election on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. Bernie Sanders would be amazed to take the 8 (EVs)
Your order of entry to the United States was 15. Conscidered to be in the Mid South region. On November 8, 2016. Kentucky has 8 electoral votes to give. Before you can vote for him in the General Election, he must first become the the Democratic Nominee.
To make Bernie Sanders the Democratic Party nominee, he first needs to win in Primary's and Caucus's across the country. The date for the Closed Primary for Kentucky is 5/17/2016. * Dates and primary format are subject to change - The above was last confirmed with the FEC on 8/19/2015
To win in Kentucky, Bernie needs all Kentuckians who will be at least 18 years old to properly REGISTER as Democrat of Kentucky (or meet other specific designation requirements ie: MA ). In Kentucky you are allowed to vote in the Primary if you will be 18 by November 8, 2016. Please do not wait until the 4/18/2016 to be sure you are registered to vote as a Democrat (or meet other specific designation requirements ie: MA )!
Once Bernie is the Democratic Nominee, he will run against the Republican Nominee (and nominees of other parties). The current General Election system requires 270 Electorial College votes. Based upon the 2010 U.S. Census, 8 of them come from Kentucky. Kentucky is a WINNER TAKE ALL state which means all 8 go to the winner. Democrats are disappointed to say Kentucky (KY) was a "Red" state in 2012 with the final elcection vote of 37.8% Democrat and 60.49% Republican. Because it was close, we have to work hard to ensure Kentucky is more strongly Democrat in 2016.
