Democrats in South Carolina are in the minority of voters. South Carolinians of (SC)
have made South Carolina a Republican (strong Republican) state.
In order for Bernie Sanders to become our next U.S. President on January 20, 2017,
he must win at least 270 Electorial Votes in the
General Election on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. Bernie Sanders would be amazed to take the 9 (EVs)
from South Carolina.
Your order of entry to the United States was 8. Conscidered to be in the Mid South region. On November 8, 2016. South Carolina has 9 electoral votes to give. Before you can vote for him in the General Election, he must first become the the Democratic Nominee.
To make Bernie Sanders the Democratic Party nominee, he first needs to win in Primary's and Caucus's across the country. The date for the Open Primary for South Carolina is 2/27/2016. NOTE: (* Republican's have a Closed Primary on a different date.). * Dates and primary format are subject to change - The above was last confirmed with the FEC on 8/19/2015
To win in South Carolina, Bernie needs all South Carolinians who will be at least 18 years old to properly REGISTER as Democrat of South Carolina (or meet other specific designation requirements ie: MA ). In South Carolina you must be 18 by the date of the Primary (2/27/2016). Please do not wait until the 1/21/2016 to be sure you are registered to vote as a Democrat (or meet other specific designation requirements ie: MA )!
Once Bernie is the Democratic Nominee, he will run against the Republican Nominee (and nominees of other parties). The current General Election system requires 270 Electorial College votes. Based upon the 2010 U.S. Census, 9 of them come from South Carolina. South Carolina is a WINNER TAKE ALL state which means all 9 go to the winner. Democrats are disappointed to say South Carolina (SC) was a "Red" state in 2012 with the final elcection vote of 44.09% Democrat and 54.56% Republican. Because it was close, we have to work hard to ensure South Carolina is more strongly Democrat in 2016.
